Epiphany

So, somehow I managed to plan my college years remarkably well. Finishing up my first semester of senior year, I only have two finals…(one of which I can use a formula sheet for) on the last day of the exam period, easily giving me the least strenuous end of a semester so far. Classes ended a week ago, and while everyone else is cramming and dying in the library, I am left with complete freedom!
Wrong.

I have been left with complete boredom.

I am used to having a busy schedule, filled with classes, sorority commitments, and events for the wellness programing board I run on campus. Apparently, that’s how I like it. With all meetings ending for the semester, and all of my friends being busy actually doing work, I am left with no one to play with and nothing to do. I have been going absolutely stir crazy, and often find myself making up reasons to walk to CVS, just so I am not sitting around all day. But, when I do choose to lounge, naturally I turn to my favorite hobby, taking in all the information I can about health and wellness.

Living a healthy and balanced life has become my true passion. As I mentioned before, I run a club on campus promoting overall health and well-being. I’ve also been a Luna Bar Campus Ambassador and a Zumba instructor. Learning how to live the best life I can, and encouraging others to do the same, is simply what I love to do. I am always trying new workouts, reading new books about health, and soaking up all I can from the web. My free hours are almost always filled with working out or reading some of my favorite wellness blogs. Mind Body Green, Happy Herbivore, Greatist, Chocolate Covered Katie, and Chalene Johnson are just a few of my absolute favorite sources of knowledge and motivation.

With my constant need to be productive, and all of this free time, I have been asking myself…how do I become like these people? How do I become qualified enough to legitimately inspire and teach people how to live their happiest, healthiest, and fullest life? I have so much experience and random knowledge, but who am I to become a role model in the blogosphere? The answer is, I’m not quite sure. One day I hope to become a fully certified wellness coach, but until then, I figure why not start with what I got!?

And so, my blog is born! As you will learn from my posts, I am a super average 21 year old. For me, wellness has been a complete journey, with many different periods of trial and error, which continue today and will continue for years. I am not the best chef, or a certified personal trainer, or a meditation mastermind (Yet!). But I am a real person dedicated to my overall health and well-being, who, through my own experience and research, has learned a lot. I want to share all of this with anyone who cares to read, and I hope that writing this blog will motivate and inspire me to pursue my knowledge of all areas of wellness even more.

Things to look forward to:

-Explanations of the evolution of my wellness philosophy
-Book Reviews and Suggestions
-Tips on healthy eating, snacking, eating out, etc
-My healthy cooking kitchen adventures
-My experience with different workouts
- Much more covering all areas of wellness!
-Fun quotes, lots of positivity and love!
As you read, please send any questions or comments along. I love a challenge! If I don’t have the answer, I would love to delve into an investigation.

Be Well.
Love, Julie
